PureAir Filtration: Making the Invisible Visible

PureAir Filtration is a U.S.-based company that builds advanced air purification systems to remove harmful gases, odors, and vapors from the air. Their solutions are used to protect electronics in semiconductor facilities, control odors in wastewater plants, purify biogas, and safeguard human health in corrosive environments.

Their systems purify air, but it’s difficult for clients to know how effectively they’re working or when maintenance is required.

“We take polluted, invisible air and purify it into invisible clean air. It’s not easy for the customer to know when and how the system is working,” says Kevin Jameson, CEO of PureAir Filtration.

To solve this, PureAir Filtration developed proprietary electronics that collect performance data and monitor the state of consumable absorbent media. By adding connectivity and smart monitoring, they turned a system into a visible, intelligent solution.

Challenges and Goals: from Spreadsheets to Client-Facing Interfaces

PureAir’s early prototypes relied on their own server. Pulling data and generating reports manually didn’t match the quality of their hardware and the experience they wanted to offer.

The team had the following goals for the solution and experience they wanted to offer:

  • Provide real-time visibility into air purification performance
  • Notify clients when filter media needs to be replaced
  • Enable remote monitoring of critical infrastructure
  • Create customer-facing dashboards that reflect the PureAir Filtration brand
  • Scale fast without maintaining servers or building a mobile app in-house

They were looking for a complete solution—cloud infrastructure, data tools, and app capabilities all in one. One key reason was to avoid the burden of maintaining their own server, something they had already experienced and were eager to move away from.

“We really liked the cloud infrastructure because we didn’t have to maintain our own server. It came with all the tools we needed for collecting and reporting on the data.” says Kevin

The Solution at a Glance

  • Hardware: Custom-developed by PureAir
  • Connectivity: Custom sensors + cellular
  • Software: Blynk IoT Platform, Enterprise Plan
  • Implementation time: 6 months from idea to launch

Blynk provided PureAir Filtration with a flexible, ready-to-use cloud infrastructure, intuitive no-code dashboards, and powerful tools to automate system alerts and reporting.

“We came across Blynk and were just amazed by the things Blynk was able to offer. It gave us everything we were looking for, and at a very reasonable price.” says Kevin.

Using Blynk, PureAir Filtration was able to implement all of the following without any custom development:

  • Real-time remote monitoring of critical infrastructure and visibility into air purification performance
  • Alert clients and internal teams when systems go offline
  • Firmware over-the-air updates
  • Build toward branded, client-facing interfaces
“We are using the OTA functionalities. That works out very, very nicely.” says Kevin.

Faster Time to Market = Faster Revenue

“My advice to entrepreneurs: look for a cloud-based service from the beginning. Build that into your implementation. You don’t want to try to do it on your own.” says Kevin

PureAir’s connected monitoring system is a patented product, seen as a breakthrough in the industry. Thanks to Blynk, they were able to shorten time to market and begin scaling quickly.

Kevin highlighted the core value Blynk’s software brought for the PureAir Filtration:

“The quicker that we can get this done the more systems we’re able to sell,” says Kevin. “We can retrofit old systems onto it and start seeing revenue faster.”

What Stood Out Most for PureAir in Blynk

“A really, really nice interface” — without needing developers
The team emphasized how important it was to create good quality dashboards that clearly show what’s going on inside their systems. With Blynk, they were able to do that themselves—no additional engineering resources required.

Being able to set up custom alerts with trigger-based automation
One of the most valuable features for them was configuring events that notify the team (and clients) when something needs attention—like when the absorbent media is full or a system goes offline.

A branded experience for their customers
They’re especially excited about giving each customer a login that “looks just like a PureAir product”—not something generic. White-labeling is helping them deliver a professional, on-brand experience.

Looking Ahead

David from the engineering team shared the company’s future plans:

“With a large-scale rollout underway, our priority is to enhance the user experience and maximize the value clients get from the platform.

As more systems go live, client feedback will play a central role in shaping both product and platform. We're particularly focused on expanding data visibility, identifying key insights, and surfacing the features that matter most to users."

“I can push out eight different clients or eight different dashboards in a week if I needed to.” — David

"On the technical side, we continue to invest in more precise performance tracking and deeper system intelligence. The coming months will open new opportunities to refine both the industrial product and the digital experience around it.”

Kevin Jameson, CEO of PureAir Filtration

My advice to entrepreneurs: look for a cloud-based service from the beginning. Build that into your implementation. You don’t want to try to do it on your own.
