Step-by-step video guide to making your first project on Blynk

One of Blynk's long-time users Sachin from Techiesms, kindly shared a fantastic step-by-step guide on creating a first project using the new Blynk platform. This video tutorial will help you get started with Blynk and find out how to create templates, datastreams and add new devices in Blynk App. Find some more information and useful links below the video.

How to create Template in Blynk

Device Template is a set of configurations inherited by devices of a similar type to perform similar function. You can create one template and assign it to the as many devices as you want. If you need to make changes to all of these devices, instead of changing each one individually, simply edit the Device Template and update all devices at once. This saves time and ensures that all devices have consistent settings. Check our full guide on templates.

How to setup Datastreams in Blynk

Datastreams are channels that are used to send data between the device and Blynk.Cloud. Once you configured Datastreams, you can use and visualize the data from your device in widgets. It is only possible to set up Datastreams in Blynk.console using web browser. Best way to set up Datastreams is during the Device Template creation, however it can be done at any time.

Configuring Blynk Mobile App

With Blynk's iOS and Android mobile apps you can remotely control the connected devices and visualize data from them in the dashboard. You can create a standalone UI for the app and make it different from what you have on the web dashboard, depending on your needs. Mobile dashboard is built from Widgets - modular UI elements which can be simply placed on the canvas. Connecting Datastreams to the widget allows communicating with the device and displaying the data on the mobile dashboard. We’ve got everything from simple buttons and sliders to cool charts, image gallery widget, map widget, and even a video streaming one.

IoT Device Provisioning

In this video Sachin demonstrated one of the coolest features - Blynk.Inject. It is a dynamic device credentials provisioning over WiFi access point. This feature is available within a packaged solution Blynk.Edgent, which allows developers to easily connect their devices to the platform and set up advanced features - dynamic wifi provisioning, OTA firmware updates and more - without the need for extensive coding. As of today, Blynk.Edgent is available for a specific list of boards (ESP32 and Arduino MKR WiFi 1010 are among them). You can check if your hardware is supported by Blynk.Edgent and learn what else included in this solution in our documentation.

Hope you enjoyed the video got inspired by all the cool no-code / low-code IoT features. Go ahead and build your first project from the ground up and share your experience with our awesome community!
