Ecodyger is an Italian company whose goal is to have food waste transformed into a resource in a sustainable way. They have built a unique machine that enables processing of the food waste directly at the source, receiving a bioproduct that becomes a part of a circular economy.
Food waste management is relevant for any place or service that prepares, produces, or distributes food. It involves issues of hygiene, cost of management and pollution. The Ecodyger team created a technological solution that can reduce food waste volume by up to 90% in just a few hours, with working temperature sanitization that kills 100% of germs and bacteria. In this way, food waste turns into organic-mineral fertilizer that can be used in agriculture, gardening, etc. This approach allows reducing CO2 emissions caused by the collection and treatment of organic waste.
In order to optimize maintenance and waste collection, and offer easy data access to its customers, Ecodyger team decided to implement an IoT solution with a private cloud and mobile apps.

Blynk IoT platform was chosen for the easy-to-use mobile app builder and the opportunity to have some additional functionality custom developed.
Blynk Business plan covered the full suite of IoT software for Ecodyger. The primary use cases include collecting and visualizing real-time data within the branded app, alarm notifications from the machine when the action is required, and OTA updates. A packaged solution Blynk.Edgent allowed configuring OTA firmware updates with no additional development. The solution also includes a smooth and user-friendly WiFi device claiming process out of the box.
